Nilanjana Bhowmick is a multi-award winning journalist and poet, who lives in New Delhi. Her poems have or will appear on the Rats Ass Review, Poets Reading the News, the Voices Project, the Menstruation Anthology and others. She is currently working on her first poetry collection. This poem reflects her angst over the continued silence of Aung San Suu Kyi over the human rights abuses meted out to the Rohingyas, a Muslim minority community in Myanmar who have lived there for generations and yet have no citizenship rights. They are one of the most persecuted minority communities in the world. Nilanjana tweets at @nilanjanab and you can follow her poetry at @dreams_and_duststorms on Instagram.
