Jeremy Schmidt was raised on the south side of Chicago and is currently a teaching fellow and scholarship counselor at UCLA. His writing has appeared in The Believer, Boston Review, LA Review of Books, Lana Turner, and elsewhere, and a sheaf of his poems was selected by John Ashbery for the 2014 "Discovery" Poetry Prize. “The Invisible Hook” first appeared in print in The Seattle Review.
