Betsy Mars is a Connecticut-born, mostly California-raised poet who loves travel, nature, and language. She is currently is working as a substitute teacher in order to dedicate time to the writing. Her childhood years living in Brazil gave her an understanding of what it means to be an outsider, a glimpse of a larger world, and an early awareness of poverty and injustice. Her work has been published by Silver Birch, the Cadence Collective, Gnarled Oak, and in the California Quarterly, as well as in a number of anthologies.
